A dual fuel fleet for B&Q

A new fleet of greener lorries is motoring its way around the country making deliveries for B&Q.

Of the fuel used to power the 50 new lorries, 60% is biomethane, a natural green source of renewable energy which is produced from purifying and liquefying landfill gas and other waste methane streams. The use of this natural gas helps to reduce pollution and cut waste.

To reduce travel carbon emissions further, the home improvement retailer is currently awaiting planning permission to invest in its own biomethane gas filling station at its Swindon Distribution Centre.

B&Q has committed to a 50% reduction in CO2 across business travel and haulage by 2023 against a 2006/07 baseline. Progress against this target is currently at 36% and well on track to meet the deadline ahead of time.
