We asked customers what they think
In the last two years we’ve spoken to thousands of customers to understand the role that sustainability plays in their homes.
Our research showed that while people may not use the word ‘sustainability’, there are many sustainability issues that connect with what customers really care about.
A good home is a sustainable home
When asked what they wanted, people said they want homes that are energy smart, durable and efficient. They want to save money by saving energy and water. They want products without harmful chemicals that are good for their health and wellbeing. They don’t like waste. They want to feel more connected with nature. And they care about their wider community.
We also found clear barriers. Home improvement is difficult enough without expecting customers to understand the issues around creating a sustainable home. People want to buy sustainably, and create a sustainable home without having to think too hard about it.
People want to create a sustainable home without having to think too hard about it. We want to make sustainability the easy choice.
Our four big goals
That’s where our new sustainable growth plan comes in. Launched earlier this year, it has four big goals that are focused on the issues our customers care most about.
With our new plan we’re making sustainability easier for customers by helping them to:
- Save money by saving energy and water.
- Live smarter by getting more from less,
re-using or using longer.
- Create healthier homes and connect with nature.
- Be part of a community that helps millions of people improve their homes.
Our sustainable growth plan is our roadmap up to 2025, setting out the next stage on our journey towards being a net positive business.
